Why is Obama visiting the Middle East?

“Obama's visit is intended to reiterate to Netanyahu that (Obama) will not neglect negotiations.” So he is coming all the way from the US to the Middle East just to reiterate his hollow promises. I mean, can’t he do it by phone?

P.S: On top of all that, the West Bank will be hermetically closed during Obama’s visit.
