King Albert II of Belgium to announce his abdication

“King Albert II of the Belgians will address the nation at 6 p.m. His address will be broadcast live by Belgium's 4 big TV and radio channels. This was announced after a meeting of key ministers with King Albert. According to reliable sources, the king is to announce that he is to abdicate from the throne.

It has not been officially announced what the king's speech will be about. However, the general expectation is that King Albert will provide more details about the succession to the throne.
