UN Security Council failing to respond effectively to bloodshed in Arab world

“Western diplomats slammed the United Nations Security Council over its ineffective handling of the turmoil and bloodshed in the Arab world, claiming the UN body is becoming irrelevant.

Diplomats in New York have claimed that the Security Council's image has been seriously tarnished due to its inaction over the escalating violence in Syria by President Bashar Assad's forces.

The Security Council has failed to produce a significant and practical response after over six-months of uprisings, the diplomats said, adding that there has been no operative decision against Damascus.”
