Obama won't influence

“... the Americans have sobered up over the influence they can have in Israeli-Palestinian talks − now they want the two sides to take action, rather than expecting the U.S. to take the reins.” So if the United States won't influence, who else will? And will Obama’s role be limited to providing beverages and snacks to the Palestinians and Israelis while negotiating?
